In-Wall Rear Projection SMART Board™ 2860 Interactive Whiteboard Wins Innovations Award at NeoCon® World's Trade Fair

Buildings and Buildings Interiors magazines name SMART product the Grand Prize Winner in Workplace Productivity category for second consecutive year

Chicago, IL --- June 10, 2002 --- SMART Technologies Inc., the interactive whiteboard industry pioneer and market leader, has been awarded the Grand Prize in Workplace Productivity for the In-Wall Rear Projection SMART Board 2860 at NeoCon World's Trade Fair in Chicago, IL. The Buildings' and Buildings Interiors' Innovations Awards showcase products that solve facility challenges. More than 150 entries were considered in seven categories by a judging panel made up of editorial, design and facilities professionals. Buildings magazine and its sister publication, Buildings Interiors, reach more than 57,000 readers and focus on products and work spaces that combine aesthetics and performance.

Part of the award-winning family of SMART Board interactive whiteboards, the 2860 features a 72" rear-projection interactive whiteboard, SMART Mirror Stand and integrated projector with a short-throw lens developed by SMART. Easy to install into a wall or customized cabinet, the 2860 provides a complete rear-projection system that is suitable for various room settings and configurations, including small spaces. While traditional mirror stands require 5' to 6' of space, the SMART Mirror Stand is only 25 1/2" deep and comes fully assembled, simplifying installation and maximizing space.

The 2860 is powered by SMART Board software, so users can access and control computer-based applications by pressing on its touch-sensitive surface. Presenters can easily add a high degree of interactivity to sessions and draw attention to key information by annotating over any application with electronic ink. They can then edit these notes and print, e-mail or save them for future reference.

"Being recognized for the second consecutive year is a strong acknowledgment of the quality and design of SMART products." says Nancy Knowlton, president and COO of SMART Technologies Inc. "We strive to deliver innovative products that boost workplace productivity and are easy to integrate into any work space."
